UFC 71 + HOGZILLA!

Damn!
CHUCK LIDDELL VS RAMPAGE JACKSON was live?!

I got so used to watching UFC reruns on SOLAR TV.

And... I got so used to watchin' Chuck Liddell beatin' up every guy he faced...

So... i thought the fight I was watching last Sunday was just one of ye olde Liddell Victory Highlights/Rerun specials..

NOT THIS TIME!!

First of all, it turns out that the fight was just held on May 26, 2007!!

Second of all, RAMPAGE JACKSON kicked Liddell's butt!!!

So much for Chuck Liddell's Revenge.

Just in case, ya didn't know -

RAMPAGE is the only fighter to have an unavenged win against Liddell.
(Occurred at
PRIDE Final Conflict 2003)

Whattafight!!

Much better than that booooorrring, overhyped De La Hoya-Mayweather fight!

No wonder boxing is slowly losing out to the UFC.

The only fun guy to watch in boxing nowadays is Manny Pacman.

LET'S GET IT ONNNN!

AWESOME AVILON ZOO! - Chapter Sais

THIS
WAS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR AVILON TRIP.

ARAPAIMA FEEDING TIME!!!!!!!!!

Rose and I have been to numerous zoos/animal habitats all over the world.

(Singapore Zoo, Seattle Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, Ocean Park HK, Vancouver Aquarium and Mini Zoo, D' Funtastic Manila Zoo hehehehe! etc etc)

And we've NEVER EVER seen anything like that mass fish-feeding frenzy!

The arapaima were huge!
Around 6 to 8 feet in length.

It's a definite must-do when you're at Avilon Zoo!!

You can even feed them at the big lake over at the entrance.
It's not as intense.
But you can still get some kicks out of it. :)
Check out da video below....

SNAP!

AAAAYYY!
Ang arte mo naman!
Natakot ako eh.........

Un-frickin-believable!!!!!!!!!!

"A battle between a pride of lions, a herd of buffalo, and 2 crocodiles at a watering hole in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.
Something like 300 in the wild life."

GO BUFFALOES!!!

Jordin nailed the last song.
Bagay talaga for her
She will win Badings!

I like Daddychoy's vent:
What a rip. Randy, shut up. "This is a singing competition, the best singer always wins!" Really? Where's Melinda then? Oh, right. "America" voted Melinda off. Couldn't risk having Melinda blow Jordin away.

Anywayz, Daughtry was awesome!!
Forgot how good he was live..

Was that eyeliner?!

Aha!!
Even Daugtry is goin' EMO!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!

You rock Zachy!!!
He absolutely played his heart out during the Alabang Football Festival.

Being the ultra-competitive boy that he is, he felt real bad winning the silver medal.

He then promised himself that he would win GOLD next time around.

For some reason,
Zachy really loves soccer.
Why should I be surprised?
He's a CUI!

AWESOME AVILON ZOO! - Chapter Cinco

As per Rey Tour MC --
The Visayan Hornbill is/was the friendliest hornbill around.
They had absolutely no problems going near or being around people.

Big Mistake...
Coz' d'people also had no problems eating and/or selling the Visayan Hornbills who got too close.

Unlike the Luzon and Mindanao Hornbills who were more suspicious of THE MAN.

Good choice.

The Visayan Hornbill is now extinct.

NASH vs. HORRY

Who says Nash is a sissy boy?
TNT Interview after the game:
Craig Sager: "You bounced up pretty quick, it looked like you wanted to go after him."
Steve Nash: "Well you know I've been working on the guns a little bit so a couple of combos may have landed some points to the body."

Hahahahaha! -- "Guns".
And what combos? Streetfighter combos? Hryu ken!

That was one bad body blow by Horry.
The Suns will just get stronger because of it.
Talk about fanning the flame....
There's already been enuff talk about the Spurs' "dirty" tactics on the Suns.

Maybe I should have bet for Phoenix instead.
Naaah...
There are still 3 games to go.
Spurs in 7.

In case ya missed it:

Tan Ta Na Naaan!!

Did you ever wanna see your Name in Lights?
Well...now's da time!

AWESOME AVILON ZOO! - Chapter Quatro

No g-Zoo would be a good g-Zoo without em' good ol' cranky crocs....
Smile fo' me daddy
Let me see ya grill
Ye, ya grill ye, ye, ya grill
(Rob da jewellery store and tell em make me a grill)

Thank ya Nelly!

The crocodile gallery is amazing.
Lotsa different species of crocs and alligators.
From small ones to big ones.
And the enclosures are so well kept and natural in setting.
The walkway is real nice too.. curving up and down..winding through all the great croc galleries.

Here's our fave Avilon Zoo Croc:
Totoy was once owned by that political priest who runs a lot - Father Robert Reyes.
He donated Totoy to Avilon Zoo coz' he got way too big.
Good decision.
I mean take a look at that scaly dude.
He's 10 years old and he's 15ft. long!!
Crocs like Totoy can grow up to 30ft mind ya...

Anyways, as we were talking, Totoy let out a great big shiver and then emitted a bone crunching:
SNAP!!!!
Holy moley-- we've never heard a croc snap like that.
It's real scary.
You could really feel the power emanating from its jaws!

Here's another Avilon Zoo buzztidbit:
They make sure that Totoy's pit has high boulders around it.
Coz the dude's been know to jump!!

Okaay........
Let's move on then, shall we?.........

:)

The first part of the tour stops at the Duck Pond.

It's filled with all types of waterfowl.

Like the dreaded
Now THAT'S A Band name.

They're here!
What you've all been waiting for...
BLACK SWAN WITH BROWN DUCK
(Roar.....)

Anyways, the Black Swans have a cute little grey cygnet (kid).
They were feeding him/her with some Kang Kong Salad when i took the pic.

Here's an interesting waterfowl tidbit from Rey - our Master MC/Tour guide:
Waterfowl with one foot up = Waterfowl schleeping/resting
Cool.
Never really knew that.

And then out of the corner of my eye...

A duck made me start to salivate....

AWESOME AVILON ZOO! - Chapter Dos

*Visitors may tour on their own or hire a private tour guide.

Private Tour Guide Fee - P350.00

If you're an AZV (Avilon Zoo Virgin), we would totally recommend getting a guide.

It's Da Buzz!

*Drinks and lights meals / snacks are available for purchase.
No food allowed while on tour of Zoo

We brought a cooler of water with some plastic cups though.
Coz' it DOES get H-O-T.
And the tour takes a LEGIT 2 hours.
So y'all will really need the H20 sometime.

*AVILON ZOO = 7.5 Hectares, 38 Exhibits, 3,000 Animals, 350 Species

Dang.....

Now OFF to the tour!!

*****************

The first thing that will strike you about Avilon Zoo is that it's soooo
Tis' reminiscent of Singapore Zoo....

Not only is it so big.
It's also so clean and well-kept!
And the usual funky animal smell is kept at a bare minimum.

They even have a Avilon Zoo Exhibition Hall for big parties, events etc.
Sob Sob ....
We should have had our wedding reception here.....
Hu hu hu hu....

WHAPAK!!

AWESOME AVILON ZOO! - Chapter Uno

HERE WE GO!!!!
We're off to see the wonderful AVILON ZOO!!
ALRIGHT!!
Animal Time!!

We've been sooooo wanting to visit Avilon Zoo for the longest time.
And we finally got our chance to take a gander last Saturday!
BOY.... It was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!

It's kinda off the beaten Metro Manila path:
WAY OFF!!!

Let's zoom in for an Extreme Satellite Close-up
EGGSTREME...CLOOOOSSE... UUUUUP......

*****************

There are many routes into Avilon.

Here's a tip:
DON"T TAKE THE SAN MATEO ROUTE.

The traffic is way harsh!!
We learned the hard way by choosing the San Mateo-Batasan Rd on d'way there.

I would recommend taking the LITEX Road instead.
It's faster.

And you get to check out the Payatas Dumpsite too.
(Man, that's one sad and huge Mountain of Trash.)
Not too mention all the Trash/Junk Shops Along the way.

And so......
After almost an hour and a half of driving...
And a seething plethora of remarks and questions from the pesteng "cute" :) pasaheros like:
(Cousins Nikki and Raf "Zachy's Bestest Bud" Santamaria accompanied us on the journey)

"Avilon Zoo is so far....."
"Who will win? A Lion or a Saber-tooth Lion?"
"Who will win? An Alligator or a Lion?"

We finally arrived at AVILON ZOO!!
PHEW!

The Pagsanjan Falls Adventure

WE MADE IT!!!
I made it a point to take Rosabel to Pagsanjan Falls after we had our team building activity at Hotel La Corona, Pagsanjan almost a month ago.

She always wanted to go "white water rafting".

Well, it wasn't really "white-water rafting".
It was more like "white hot fun and bruises".

***********

We left da house real early at 530am to avoid all the traffic that builds up around the Laguna Towns (especially Los Banos!!) headin' in to Pagsanjan, Laguna.

And lo and behold, we got to Hotel La Corona, Pagsanjan at 7am!!

Sarap.. no traffic .. twas' a mucho relaxing drive.

I actually reserved a "banca" for us a week ago from the La Corona HQ over in Manila. A great convenience in case there are wild bunches of turistas.

Another nice thing about going thru La Corona is that there is ample and safe parking space for your ride.
Purr-fect for a day trip.

So anyways....after a quick change to our "swimsuits",
we donned our life vests,
readied our nifty KODAK Underwater/Water Resistant "FILM' Camera,
(yes-- FILM!! Hahahahaha! No way was I going to risk our precious Digital Camera)

and hopped on to our "gondola".

Here-a we go-a!

***********

The first part of the upriver journey is pleasant and placid.

You get to check out the serene river life..

Like the river lilies, river fishermen, river bathers, river laundrywomen, river kangkong, river kalabaws..

ZZZZZZ.......

Too much serenity may sleep ya.....

So our guide lassoed HIMSELF on to another boat which had a motor in order to get us to the real fun parts faster....

***********

To get to the Falls, ya gotta pass by lotsa stuff...

Like the numerous rocks and huge boulders - deftly avoided by the Super Bangkeros....

The towering, magnificent and beautiful canyons...

The "Rest" Station -- aka -- '"Boss-- bili naman kayo ng chicken and Coke for your boatmen with accompanying awa effect"...
-- duh? Tourist Trap

And of course, the loneliest Tourist Center in the Philippines....
Then....

After almost 1 hour of traversing and travailing...

You hear the violent rush of falling water....

VOILA!!!!!!
HOLY WATERFALLS BATMAN!

***********

Now here's where it gets white hot exciting...

You can pay an additonal P90 pesos for a raft ride where you can actually go inside the cave behind and underneath the Pagsanjan Falls...

I SOOOO regretted not bringing a camera the last time we went under with my workmates

Well, not anymore!
Coz' I came ready with ye olde Water Resistant up to 50 m Camera!!

Here we go!!!
Onward To The Falls!!

Closer...

CLOSER.....

CLOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never mentioned to Rosabel that the falling water pressure was kinda unbelievable.

I guess I should have warned her.

She thought her head was going to be chopped off.
She was like --
"Is this right? Is this right? Do they subject our tourists to this torture?"

OOOOOOPPS!
Sorry hon..... :(
Whapak!

Anyways, you can go swimming around the falls and in the cave.

You can even use the raft rope to get near the falls and touch the falling water.
The mist/spray is sooooo strong.
You won't be able to look directly into the powerful water fall while getting closer.

Not to mention the awesome sound...

There's also lotsa wind generated by the falling water......

So basically, you feel like you're in one giant typhoon!

During the "Ber months", it would be almost impossible to even go near the falls due to the force of the water and the danger of falling debris.
As per the guides, you would end up stopping at the rest station coz' the water gets too dangerous.

So the best time to go is during the summer months (March to May) where the water ain't that strong....

Huh?
It sure felt strong to us!!!

Here's a cool shot you never see too often..

"Pagsanjan Falls from Behind"

On the raft ride back to shore, the guide made us lie face down on the raft -- para "massage" daw.

Yeah right!!

I swear, we felt like we were being pummeled by a bunch of raging WWE Wrestlers and/or WWE Kalabaws!!!!

Rosabel to Guide:
"Woooh mas-sa-he!"

Raft guide:
Hahahahahahahha!

Pocha tumawa pa.
Peste... :)

It was smooth "mini-mini white water river rafting" going back to La Corona.
We were still kinda aching from the "massage".

But by the end of the day -- it actually felt strangely refreshing
Hmmmmm.....

Enter the old adage:
NO PAIN NO GAIN.......

:)

***********

Much cannot be said about the bangkeros who toil through the rocks, the current, the heavy bangka and the pestering tourists just to bring you up to the falls.

I tell you..the work they put in is not commensurate to the standard fees you pay for the ride --

PHP 660.
(Php 500 pesos goes to the Boatmen)

Believe me.. After the trip is done.... you may want to pay them even more for all their superb hard work.

***********

WHATTARIDE!!!!!!!
